This made me laugh as I thought of the time I crossed in the middle of downtown traffic here in the states not thinking. I gaged how fast people were coming and just walked out the car did the most surprising thing they stomped on the brakes and came to a screeching stop. All day I just wondered why they did this. I knew what I was doing I had lived in Maadi for 2 years and attended AUC crossing streets, standing on lane lines to let cars go around these just seemed nomral to me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5610405167146745617.post-81993798783565271542009-06-07T05:14:35.603+03:002009-06-07T05:14:35.603+03:00I totally hear you on the driving thing. This would NEVER happen in Egypt!" And today, when Zack got a ticket for making a U-turn in a no-u-turn-zone, I thought "In Egypt, nobody would care..."Lauren https://www.blogger.com/profile/01451766886215555660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5610405167146745617.post-8293039364851992942009-06-04T22:03:19.586+03:002009-06-04T22:03:19.586+03:00Maryanna-The cats are fine now. We think Cleo ran away from us at first partly due to the fact that we were the house guests of two Siamese cats (and their human companions) at our last stop, so we smelled like unfamiliar cats when we came home. Cleo liked me much more once I showered.

One Little Bird-Gee, I wonder who you are :) It's all one big adjustment. I was doing well until the jet lag hit with a vengeance last night. I was awake from 2:30 until 6, then asleep from 6 until noon ... I think the cultural adjustment is easier than the physical adjustment!

Jeanne-whoa, slow down a minute! I didn't live in the States for 30+ years! I moved to Egypt when I was 29. :D And you're very welcome.Deborahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10249491905813918066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5610405167146745617.post-91363438834438629802009-06-04T18:39:08.463+03:002009-06-04T18:39:08.463+03:00I find it strange that just 1 year of living in Eg...I find it strange that just 1 year of living in Egypt "undoes" the 30+ years of living in the States!

And the shirt is comfortable! And how are the cats? Cleo that was afraid of you -probably was just mad at "being abandoned". We look forward to your visit next year. 20 years of overseas posts? I selfishly hope not that many.MLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02547965252514772011noreply@blogger.com
